By request from the club, the Blount Co EMA purchased new Amateur station equipment for the EOC. The old Drake TR-7 station has been retired and has been replaced by a new Kenwood TS-2000 HF/VHF/UHF all mode transceiver and an Icom ID-800H D-Star capable dual band transceiver. Coming soon, A new Farallon PC-IIex Pactor Controller, Winlink Software, an additional dual band (VHF/UHF) antenna and a new Hy-Gain DX-88 multiband HF vertical antenna. This new station will give the EOC state-of-the-art capabilities for emergency communictions via Amateur Radio. Available modes of operation are: SSB, CW, FM, AM, PSK31, Packet Radio, RTTY and Pactor II. The station is operated when needed by members of the Blount County Amateur Radio club under the callsign of W4BLT.
